Arrest over racist assault on woman on board a train

A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and racist abuse of a woman on board a train.

The incident happened on the 20:42 Aberdeen to Glasgow service on 15 July as the train was travelling between Aberdeen and Perth.

A 20-year-old woman was said to have been assaulted and subjected to "abusive and racially offensive behaviour".

British Transport Police said a 25-year-old man had been arrested.

A report has been sent to prosecutors.

Inquiries to trace a second man are continuing.

At the time British Transport Police issued CCTV footage of two men they wanted to trace.
