Thieves cut down live power lines near Falkirk
Police have condemned "reckless and dangerous" thieves who stole overhead power lines near Falkirk.
The live lines were cut down in Maddiston and Banknock before Monday, when the damage was discovered.
The thieves removed the copper wire from the cables, which officers said were carrying a low voltage but were "certainly live".
Police Scotland said the investigation was "ongoing" and appealed for witnesses to contact them.
A spokesman added: "Criminals are engaging in highly dangerous behaviour that could lead to death by cutting down live power lines, and their actions could cause fires in nearby properties, or even cause traffic accidents if brought down near roads.
"Metal theft is one of the biggest threats to the safety of the electricity network, and the impact of these crimes can be devastating."
