A fishing boat has been towed to safety after it began taking on water.
The crew of the Stornoway-registered Prevail raised the alarm at about 03:00 when the vessel was about 31 miles east of Montrose.
Aberdeen Coastguard was alerted after the boat's emergency beacon was activated.
A helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth was initially called out. The Montrose lifeboat is now towing the boat back to the town.
The four-man crew had been pumping out water.
