Nigeria Ebola outbreak disrupts Forfar court trial

A trial had to be put off at Forfar Sheriff Court after the Ebola outbreak left the defendant stranded in Nigeria.

John Sharp was due to go on trial after denying seven charges including assault and threatening and abusive behaviour.

But his defence lawyer advised the court that the 49-year-old offshore worker had been unable to return from Nigeria on schedule due to the outbreak of Ebola in the African state.

Sheriff Gregor Murray set a new trial date in December.

Travel bans in are in place in several African countries due to the ongoing outbreak of the deadly virus.
