Police investigate as Alloa shop robbed twice in a week

Forth Valley police are on high alert after a village shop was robbed twice inside a week.

Police are investigating after a four-figure sum of money was taken from the shop on Pompee Road in Sauchie, Alloa, at about 17:00 on Thursday.

A similar sum was taken in another raid on Monday afternoon.

One man has been detained in connection with Thursday's incident, but officers are looking for another man and have appealed for witnesses to both crimes.

Insp Mike Matthewson, who is overseeing the investigation, said he believed the two raids were linked.

"We are keen to trace witnesses to both incidents and, in particular, anyone who saw a man, about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build, wearing dark trousers, a grey T-shirt and a blue hooded jacket with white writing on the rear left shoulder, in the area," he said. "He was also carrying a white plastic bag.

"It is important to stress that Sauchie is a safe, low crime, area.

"These two recent incidents are completely outwith the norm and we would like to reassure the public that Sauchie is a safe area in which to live and work.

"To this end, officers will be carrying out visible patrols of the area over the course of the weekend in order to reassure the community."
