Arrest over £80,000 of heroin and cocaine seized in Perth

A 48-year-old man has been arrested after drugs with an estimated street value of £80,000 were recovered from an address in Perth.

Officers seized heroin and cocaine from a property in the Bridgend area at about 17:30 on Thursday.

The man was charged with being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

He is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police Scotland's local area commander Ch Insp Mike Whitford said: ''Drugs are being misused and dealt in Perth as they are in towns and cities across the UK, but we will use all means at our disposal to cause the maximum disruption at every level of this illicit trade.

''Drug dealers are parasites who seek only to line their own pockets and profit from people who are invariably struggling on the margins of existence.

"We will continue with our relentless focus on these criminals to leave them in no doubt that the streets of Tayside are not hospitable for them. We will catch them and we will put them before the courts.''
