Man and woman injured in A9 crash near Auchterarder

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital after a crash on the A9 near Auchterarder.

The collision, between a white Vauxhall Astra and a red Citroen C4, happened at about 10:20 and led to the closure of the southbound carriageway.

Police said the man, thought to be in his thirties, sustained a chest injury and was flown by air ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The woman, also in her thirties, was treated for a broken ankle.

The accident also resulted in the northbound carriageway of the A9 being restricted to one lane.

Both carriageways are expected to re-open fully once debris has been cleared from the road.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
