Engineers have restored gas supplies in Clackmannanshire three days after a farmer ruptured a mains pipeline.

A total of 3,500 homes were affected after the eight inch pipe was accidentally cut through near Fishcross on Tuesday afternoon.

Homes in Tillicoultry, Dollar, Fishcross and some smaller surrounding villages were affected.

Scotland Gas Networks (SGN) said all homes where they had gained access had now been reconnected.

More than 100 engineers have been working in the area to restore supplies following the leak.

SGN said where they had been unable to gain access, staff had left a postcard asking residents to notify them on their return home.

All affected customers have received a letter informing them that they will get £30 compensation for every day without gas after the first 24 hours.

However, SGN advised it could take up to four to five weeks for this to appear on bills.
