Castle Douglas man jailed over sex offences with girls under 16

A Castle Douglas man has been jailed for sex offences involving two girls under the age of 16.

Ivan Maxwell, 44, had denied committing the offences between November 2012 and June 2014.

He was found guilty by majority of pushing one girl onto a bed, lying on top of her and making sexual remarks.

He was unanimously convicted of travelling to meet another girl intending to engage in unlawful sexual activity with her.

Maxwell was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years for the offences, which were committed in the Stewartry area of Dumfries and Galloway.

Verdicts of not proven were returned on two other charges at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
