Two 'stable' after crash near Torthorwald

A man and a woman are in a stable condition in Dumfries Infirmary after a four-car crash on the A709 on Friday.

The accident took place at about 17:00 near to the village of Torthorwald between Dumfries and Lockerbie.

A 52-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were taken to hospital for treatment as a result of the incident.

Four other people were treated for shock but were otherwise uninjured. The road in the area was closed for about six hours.
