Four to contest Annandale North by-election

Four candidates are to contest a by-election for a vacant seat on Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Graeme Tait, who switched to Labour after being elected as a Conservative, resigned last month saying he wanted to concentrate on his career.

A by-election in the Annandale North ward will be held on 17 November.

Chris Ballance (Green Party), Douglas Fairbairn (Conservative), Sylvia Moffat (SNP) and Adam Wilson (Labour) will seek to replace Mr Tait.
