A variation to planning conditions has been agreed to allow budget retailer Poundworld to take over a former Brantano shoe shop site in Dumfries.

The unit at the Peel Centre on the town's Lockerbie Road is currently vacant.

A planning application sought to allow the sale of convenience goods on about 30% of the floorspace.

Dumfries and Galloway Council has now approved the move subject to conditions.

Earlier this year, Poundworld announced plans to open 10 new stores in Scotland creating 300 jobs.
