Sweet-toothed Queen of the South pie shop raiders hunted

Police are investigating after thieves made off with sweets from the pie shop at a Scottish Championship football club's ground.

The incident happened at Queen of the South's Palmerston Park some time between 28 May and 2 July.

Police said the pie shop in the north stand terracing was broken into and confectionery worth about £80 taken.

They want to hear from anyone who might have seen anything suspicious in the area.

PC Stephanie Brown said: "The pie shop was locked up after the last home game of the season and when it was checked again on Saturday the break-in was discovered."

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a break-in at the Premier Stores in Auchencrieff Road in Locharbriggs near Dumfries.

Cigarettes worth about £5,000 were taken at about 03:10 on Sunday.
