Dumfries and Galloway revised bus service cuts agreed

A scaled-down package of cuts to bus services across Dumfries and Galloway has been agreed.

The plans had been revised in the face of considerable public opposition to the potential loss of a string of evening and Sunday services.

The South West of Scotland Transport Partnership (SWestrans) was considering the move to help it absorb a £315,000 fall in local authority funding.

Revised plans - cutting £205,000 worth of services - have now been agreed.

The partnership previously deferred a decision on the move to allow for a short period of public consultation.

It has now gained agreement on its new proposals.
