The search for a missing Stranraer man has been stood down after a body was found on the shoreline at the Mull of Galloway.

Police, coastguard and an RAF Sea King helicopter were involved in efforts to trace 66-year-old Dennis Brough.

The search was called off after a body was discovered at East Tarbet with Mr Brough's Land Rover in the sea nearby.

The procurator fiscal has been informed and police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Sgt Paul Dodds said: "Extensive searches have been carried out since Friday and sadly today they have ended with the recovery of a body.

"I would like to thank all those who were involved in the searches for their time and effort and also the public for their assistance in trying to trace Mr Brough."
