A ward at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary has been closed following a suspected outbreak of norovirus.

Ward 16, an orthopaedic and gynaecology ward, was shut to admissions, transfers and routine visiting on Tuesday.

A health board spokeswoman said six patients had symptoms of the winter sickness bug.

People who have experienced vomiting and diarrhoea should not visit the hospital until 48 hours after the symptoms have resolved.
