Galashiels telecoms firm doubles workforce

A Borders-based telecommunications firm providing installation services across the UK has more than doubled its workforce in the last three years.

QubeGB, which has its headquarters in Galashiels, has increased employee numbers from 257 in 2012 to 537.

The company, which also runs a support centre in Stevenage, was formed in 2007 with just three staff.

It has since won a number of major contracts and secured a seven-figure funding package from Clydesdale Bank.

Last year's the firm's annual turnover was £26m.

Cameron Smith, group finance manager, said the funding support had been critical in enabling the company to grow.

He said it had allowed them to increase staff numbers and also invest in warehousing, technology, fleet and a call centre.
