'Vicious' Stranraer caravan park attack investigated

Police are investigating an assault at a caravan park which left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

The "vicious" attack took place at the Ryan Bay Caravan Park near Stranraer at 21:20 on Tuesday.

A 51-year-old man was attacked on the site by two men. He was punched and kicked and suffered injuries from a "bladed implement".

The victim was taken to Galloway Community Hospital with "serious but not life-threatening injuries".

'Rare attack'

One of the attackers is described as about 6ft 1in tall and was wearing a dark hooded top.

The second man was about 5ft 9in and was also wearing dark clothing with a hood pulled up.

Det Insp Bryan Lee said: "Whilst this is a rare type of attack for the area, it was clearly a vicious and sustained attack on the victim which has put him in hospital with some serious injuries.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area, or who may have any information about this attack to get in touch with Police Scotland at Stranraer through our 101 number, or if they want to remain anonymous, through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
