Pupils have been disciplined and had e-cigarettes confiscated since a ban was introduced in Borders schools earlier this year, it has emerged.

A total of seven students have had the devices taken off them.

Three of them were at Selkirk High - where one triggered the school's fire alarm - others were at Earlston High and Berwickshire High.

A pupil at Peebles High was also disciplined for smoking one on school grounds.

Plans are in place for discussions with pupils about the issue across the area during this school year.
