Hawick man in court over Galashiels post office robbery

A Hawick man has made a private court appearance accused of assault and robbery at a post office in Galashiels.

David Connolly, 30, was charged with spraying an aerosol can into the faces of two men and threatening to set them alight before stealing almost £3,000.

The incident is alleged to have happened at the Gala Park Post Office in Balmoral Place on 2 September.

Mr Connolly made no plea or declaration when he appeared on petition at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

The case was continued for further examination and he was remanded in custody by Sheriff Kevin Drummond.
