Police investigation after sexual assault on Annan teenager
A police investigation has begun after a teenager was sexually assaulted in Dumfries and Galloway.
The 17-year-old was making her way home in Annan at about 23:40 on Saturday when she was attacked.
She was approached from behind, pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted before the man walked off.
A Police Scotland spokesman said the woman did not require hospital treatment but she was very distressed by her ordeal.
The attack happened the Standalane area, near the fire station.
The suspect was described as white, of medium height and build and wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and dark-coloured trousers.
Det Insp Colin Burnie said: "An experienced team of officers are working on this inquiry and we are determined to trace the man responsible for this crime.
"We are in the process of gathering CCTV images from the surrounding areas and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen or noticed anything untoward or suspicious to get in touch with us.
"Any small piece of information could prove significant in our investigation."
