Police have said an operation on routes across the Scotland-England border proved successful in detecting a range of offences.

Operation Overlord was held last week in the Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland and Cumbria.

Nearly 50 vehicles were stopped and six were issued with prohibition notices with other on-the-spot fines given out.

Police also seized one vehicle after the driver was found to have no insurance or driving licence.

Sgt Brian Jones said: "Police Scotland is committed to reducing road casualties.

"We will continue to work with our partner agencies to improve awareness of road safety and to challenge offending behaviour in order to keep people safe on Scotland's roads."
