A recycling company has revealed plans for a base in southern Scotland which it said would create 25 jobs.

The news comes after Hertfordshire-based Panel2Panel secured a £168,000 grant from the Scottish government.

The funding award is part of nationwide efforts to cut waste by 15% by 2025.

The cash package - announced by Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead - will be used by the company to set up a manufacturing base in Dalbeattie.

The firm said it would initially create 25 jobs.

Chief Executive Andrew Whitford welcomed the grant funding from the Zero Waste Programme which he said had allowed them to secure additional private investment.

The company plan to turn plastic from fridges and yoghurt pots into construction fittings for schools and hospitals.
