Dumfries jewel thieves take £14,000 earrings

Police have launched an investigation after diamond earrings worth about £14,000 were stolen from a jewellers.

The incident happened at about 10:10 on Friday at the Thomson's premises on Bank Street in Dumfries.

Police are keen to trace two men who were seen in the shop at the time, both of whom spoke with Newcastle accents.

One is described as in his mid to late 30s, 5ft 10in tall and bald with a muscled physique. The second man was said to be of "large build".

The first man was wearing a khaki-coloured flat cap, a black fitted jumper with a white T-shirt underneath, fitted dark denim jeans and black trainers.

The other man had a blue zipped top with white tassels, dark coloured headwear and dark denim jeans.
