Moffat prepares for second town-centre sheep races

Final preparations are being made for the second town-centre sheep races to be held in a south of Scotland town.

Moffat staged what is thought to be the first such event in Scotland on its high street last year.

Six heats will be run on Sunday and the winner of each heat will run in the final, with the winner taking the overall title.

The sheep will race with a dummy jockey on their backs made of wool and negotiate a series of hurdles.

Last year's event drew thousands of spectators to the centre of the town.

Organisers are hoping for a similar turnout for this weekend's racing which runs from 12:00 to 16:00 on Sunday.
