Moffat Tweed Shop golden ram head stolen

Police are investigating the theft of a gold-coloured ram's head which is more than 100 years old.

The incident happened outside the Moffat Tweed Shop in the town's High Street overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

The head is made of metal and has a monetary value of between £200 and £300.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said that in historical terms it was "irreplaceable".

The head was secured to the outside wall of the shop.
