Borders rape crisis centre officially opens

A rape crisis centre has been officially opened in the Borders by the Solicitor General for Scotland, Frank Mulholland QC.

The region was identified as the last major centre of population in the country without such a facility.

Rape Crisis Scotland helped to put together a partnership to open a centre in Galashiels.

DCI Linda Ormiston of Lothian and Borders Police said the specialist response service would be "invaluable".
