Jedburgh man charged after pitbull-type dog bites child

A man has been charged with keeping a dangerous dog after a child was bitten in the Scottish Borders.

It follows an incident at the weekend on Lothian Road in Jedburgh in which a pitbull-type dog attacked a West Highland Terrier.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said that a 23-year-old local man had now been charged.

A short statement from the force added that the pitbull-type dog had been put down following the incident.
