Man jailed for taxi drugs offence

A man caught in a taxi with drugs with a street value of up to £38,000 has been jailed of three years and nine months.

Paul Smith, 37, of Iain Road, Bearsden, was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of amphetamines on the A74(M) near Lockerbie last September.

The drugs were recovered when a taxi he was a passenger in was stopped by Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.

Smith was found guilty after a three-day trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
