A £1m refurbishment of boutique hotel Malmaison Edinburgh has been completed, its owners have announced.

The revamp is part of a wider £5m investment by Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group in five of its seven Scottish hotels.

The Edinburgh site became the first Malmaison to open in 1994.

The brand is now established in Dundee, Aberdeen and Glasgow as well as nine other UK cities. Hotel du Vin has bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews.

Malmaison Hotel du Vin chief executive Paul Roberts said: "Edinburgh was home to our first ever Malmaison and has been a cornerstone of the brand's success."
