Construction work has started on a £60m office and retail development in the centre of Glasgow.

The 143,000 sq ft project at 1 West Regent Street will offer office and retail space over ten levels.

The site was acquired by private real estate fund management business Mountgrange and M&G Real Estate last year from Duddingston House Properties.

Construction firm Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed as design and build contractor for the project.

The development is expected to be completed and ready for occupation by the first quarter of 2015.

It is located close to Glasgow's Queen Street station and is adjacent to the Buchanan Quarter retail scheme.
