Robert Cowie named as cyclist killed in A90 collision near Boddam

A cyclist killed in a crash involving two other vehicles on the A90 in Aberdeenshire has been named.

Police said the collision happened about 14:30 on Wednesday, near Boddam, outside Peterhead.

Robert Cowie, 52, from Boddam, died at the scene.

It also involved a grey Seat Ateca car and a white Volkswagen Crafter van. Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash or with information to come forward.

The road was closed for six hours to allow accident investigation work to take place.

Neither of the drivers involved were injured.

Sgt Craig McNeill said: "Our thoughts are with everyone affected and particularly with Robert's family and friends.

"I would urge anyone who may have information about the collision and has not already spoken to officers to contact police as soon as possible.

"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw Robert cycling southwards on the A90 around the time of the collision."
