A man charged after an attempted robbery at an Aberdeen shop by someone wearing superhero mask will not face court action, the BBC Scotland news website has learned.

The incident happened at Roslin Stores in Urquhart Road in January.

Shaun Coutts, 23, was later charged with attempted robbery. He made no plea in February and was released on bail.

The Crown Office said the procurator fiscal had decided there should be no further proceedings at this time.

A spokesman explained: "It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review, and following full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the admissible evidence currently available, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no further proceedings at this time.

"The Crown reserves the right to re-raise proceedings."
