Bus driver taken to hospital after fire in Aberdeen

A bus driver has been taken to hospital after his vehicle caught fire in Aberdeen.

The Stagecoach vehicle caught fire in Wellington Road, forcing the closure of the southbound and northbound lanes.

The driver was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach North Scotland said: "One of our vehicles suffered a technical problem. The vehicle was not in service and there were no passengers on board."

She added: "Safety is our absolute priority and we will investigate the cause of this incident as a matter of priority."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called out to tackle the blaze.
