Motorist dies after B979 lorry crash near Westhill
A motorist has died after a crash involving a lorry and a car in Aberdeenshire.
The collision happened on the B979 near Westhill at about 08:30, between the B9119 Cairnie road and A944 road to Elrick.
The 32-year-old man who died, from the Torphins area, was in the car. The lorry driver was not seriously injured.
The road was closed until about 15:00 to allow an investigation. Police Scotland appealed for witnesses.
Sgt Rob Warnock said: "My thoughts, and that of my officers, are very much with the family and friends of the man who sadly died in this dreadful collision.
"Several people witnessed this incident and I am acutely aware that they, and others who assisted at the scene, have also been affected by the tragic circumstances.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen either vehicle shortly beforehand and who hasn't yet spoken with police to do so as a matter of urgency to help us piece together exactly what happened."
