A man who died in a crash in Aberdeenshire has been named as a "much-loved" father.

George Wiseman, 49, from the Whitehills area, died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on the A947 Newmachar to Oldmeldrum road on Tuesday.

His silver Mini and a black Toyota Avensis collided.

Relatives said in a statement: "We are absolutely devastated at the tragic loss of George, a much loved husband and father."

They added: "George worked at sea as a fisherman in Whitehills for years before latterly moving into the oil industry. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him."
