Veteran broadcaster Jim McColl, of The Beechgrove Garden, has been honoured with the Royal Television Society Scotland Award 2016.

McColl began presenting the show after the BBC began digging up a patch of garden at the back of its studios in Aberdeen in 1978.

Donalda MacKinnon, BBC Scotland's head of programmes and services, said: "This award recognises a master of his art."

The Beechgrove Garden is produced by Tern TV for BBC Scotland.
