Police investigating the "well-organised" theft of two lorries and their valuable cargo are appealing for sightings of a car which was found on fire.

The two lorries - believed to have contained furniture and alcohol - had been stolen from the West Tullos industrial estate in Aberdeen.

They were found ablaze on the A97 south of Huntly early on Monday.

A silver Renault Megane was later found on fire in Aberdeen.

It was in the Queen's Den area of Hazlehead.

Det Insp Stuart McAdam said: "This incident appears to have been a well-organised crime with a significant value of property stolen and damaged.

"I would urge anyone who saw a silver Renault Megane motor car in the Hazlehead area around lunchtime on Monday to contact the police as soon as possible."

Officers also want to hear from anyone who saw two HGVs in the north east between midnight and 05:00 that morning.
