A man from Orkney is hoping to claim a world record for speed climbing.

Paul Gray, 40, from Kirkwall, succeeded in his attempt to climb the equivalent of a mile on an indoor climbing wall.

The climbing enthusiast made 191 ascents in under three hours at the Pickaquoy Centre in Orkney.

It is expected to become a new world record, pending checks and verification by Guinness World Records. Mr Gray has raised several thousands of pounds for depression support charity Blide Trust.
