Probe into 'significant' Murchison platform crane damage

An investigation has been launched after a crane suffered "significant damage" on a North Sea platform.

The incident happened on CNR International's Murchison platform during a lifting operation in the early hours of Wednesday.

CNR said no-one was hurt and all 102 personnel on board at the time were safe and well.

A team will assess the structural damage and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified.

All crane operations on the platform have been suspended as a "precaution".

There were no plans to take any personnel from the platform as a result of the incident.

The Murchison platform is about 280 miles north of Aberdeen.
