Relatives of A90 crash victim Ina Stewart speak of heartbreak

Relatives of a 57-year-old grandmother killed in an Aberdeenshire crash have spoken of their heartbreak.

Elgin woman Jamesina Stewart - known as Ina - died after the collision on the A90 near Ellon on Saturday.

Her family said: "Ina was a loving daughter, mum and granny who had been on a day out with her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren as a pre-Mother's day visit."

The statement said: "We are heartbroken and devastated."

They said a "dedicated mum and loving person" had been taken from them in "sudden and tragic circumstances".

'Extremely grateful'

They added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the public who provided assistance at the scene of the accident, and are extremely grateful to the paramedics and fire service for all their efforts.

"In particular we would like to thank Police Scotland for their professional and sensitive approach in dealing with matters."

The collision happened at about 13:50 and involved a Vauxhall Meriva and a Renault Megane.

Five other people were injured.

Police Scotland appealed for witnesses.
