The incident took place at the International Shop on George Street in the city at about 17:30 on Friday.

A man entered the shop and demanded money from a member of staff. Police said the staff member was not injured but left "alarmed and shaken".

Det Sgt Gary Winter urged anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious to come forward.

He said it was a busy time of the evening when people would have been in the area.

The suspect was described as aged between 25-40, 5ft 4ins tall, of medium build with short blonde/brown hair.

He has facial stubble and was wearing a light grey tracksuit top and dark tracksuit trousers. He spoke with a local accent.
