Driver aged 62 'recorded at 122mph' on A96

A 62-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving after being recorded doing 122mph, police have said.

A 24-year-old man was also said to have been clocked at 113mph on the same A96 dual carriageway, between Inverurie and Kintore.

Police Scotland said a further six drivers were recorded between 86mph and 103mph between Inverurie and Huntly.

Officers carried out checks on Wednesday.

Sgt Steve Manson said: "Despite highly publicising our activity on the roads, it's clear the message is still not getting through to a minority of selfish drivers who continue to put others, and themselves, at risk by continuing to disregard safety and drive in such a manner.

"It's deeply concerning that all of the speeds detected between 86 and 122 miles per hour were recorded at one of the busiest time of the day, between 4pm and 6pm."
