An Aberdeenshire organic waste management company has secured a £2.2m investment to help fuel an expansion.

Family-owned Keenan Recycling, which is based in New Deer, secured the funding from the Business Growth Fund (BGF).

Keenan opened a base in Linlithgow earlier this year, and said the new investment would help it to grow in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The firm processes more than 60,000 tonnes of waste each year, transforming it into compost.

Managing director Grant Keenan said: "We've seen our number of clients more than triple from 600 to in excess of 2,000.

"More than one million people already benefit from our services and so we're excited to be able to bring the same opportunities to clients in the central belt too."
