Pedestrian 'critical' after being hit by car

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital under police escort after being knocked down by a car in Aberdeenshire.

The incident happened on the A92 in Inverbervie shortly before 15:30.

An air ambulance was called out and was expected to fly the man to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but was stood down due to deteriorating light.

The man, believed to be aged about 70, was instead taken by road ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a "critical" condition.
