Mintlaw farm ordered by council to tackle slurry smell

The operator of a farm near Mintlaw has been ordered to reduce the smell of pig slurry.

Baluss Farm has been served with the latest in a number of abatement notices from Aberdeenshire Council.

Since last spring, the local authority and Scottish Environment Protection Agency have received complaints about the smell of slurry from the farm.

The council has given the farm four months to put a roof or cover on a slurry tank to reduce the odour.

Previously, the farm was told to plough in slurry that had been spread on a field.
