Crews called to manhole explosion in Aberdeen

Emergency services and electrical engineers have been dealing with the aftermath of an explosion at a manhole in Aberdeen.

Flames were reported to have been shooting out of the pavement in Auchmill Road at about 06:00.

A taxi driver who was passing the scene told BBC Scotland there was a loud bang and he saw flames and debris leap several feet into the air.

Scottish Hydro Electric there was a fault in a distribution box.

One lane was closed city-bound on the busy commuter route.
