Darren Lindsay named as victim in Muir of Fowlis crash

A man who died as a result of a crash in Aberdeenshire has been named by police.

Darren Lindsay, 23 , from the Alford area, died following the collision which involved a silver Honda Jazz and a blue Peugeot 407.

The accident happened at about 18:40 on the A980 Alford to Lumphanan Road outside Muir of Fowlis.

The other driver had to be cut free from the wreckage and was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A police statement on behalf of the family of Darren Lindsay said he will be missed tremendously by his son Lucas and unborn baby due in October, partner Sophie, parents Colin and Maria and his siblings Colin, Vicky and Dawn.

It also said the family would appreciate being given some time alone to grieve.

Sgt Chris Whelan, from Police Scotland, said: "This was a tragic incident, resulting in the death of a young driver and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time".

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and would like anyone with information to contact them.
