Police plea made over stolen WWI medals

Police are trying to trace the owner of two stolen WWI medals after they were recovered.

The medals were found as officers investigated offences committed in the Moray, Aberdeen, and Northern Constabulary areas.

WPC Kate Barnett, of Grampian Police in Elgin, said: "These two medals, which are likely to be of great sentimental value, still need to be identified."

It is hoped the owner can be found before Remembrance Sunday.

WPC Barnett added: "Each medal has a name on it that will allow us to immediately identify the correct owners if they come forward."
