Man admits Aberdeen stabbing attack on former partner

A man has admitted repeatedly stabbing his former partner in front of her children in Aberdeen.

Gareth Kerr, 44, stabbed his former girlfriend Gail McCann on the head and body during the attack in Strathmore Drive and Esk Place.

The mother was left severely injured, scarred for life and permanently impaired during the incident on 22 March, 2009.

Sentence on Kerr was deferred at the High Court in Aberdeen.

Advocate depute Michael Stewart said Ms McCann suffered 25 stab wounds to her hands and arms, three further wounds to her head and another three to her neck during the attack.

Kerr had originally been accused of attempted murder.
